Arkansas Health Insurance Laws and Regulations

As you search for Arkansas health insurance, there are a few different state laws and regulations you should know.

Arkansas health insurers may set monthly premiums, exclude coverage, or deny applications based on health history or pre-existing conditions. Residents who are denied coverage or offered an expensive plan can purchase insurance in the state's high-risk pool, Arkansas Comprehensive Health Insurance Poll (CHIP).

All Arkansas health insurance plans are required to cover these medical services:

  • Screening for breast and colorectal cancer
  • Breast reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy
  • Care for certain diabetes-related conditions
  • Continuity of care for pregnant women and new mothers
  • Children's vaccinations

Arkansas law also requires insurance companies to set the same coverage maximums and limits for mental health conditions as physical conditions.
