Geisinger Quality Options, Inc. (GQO) has introduced a new health plan for individuals who do not have access to group insurance coverage – Geisinger Quality Options.
This is an affiliate of Geisinger Health Plan, which is a not-for-profit Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) that serves the health insurance needs of members in 42 counties throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Geisinger Health Plan, as well as the GQO, is based in Danville, Pennsylvania. Regional sales offices can be found in Danville, Moosic, State College and Wilkes-Barre.
History of Geisinger Quality Options
A rural, prepaid health plan was offered as a pilot program in 1972 to Geisinger Medical Center employees and residents of the five counties that surrounded the hospital. Geisinger Health Plan received its Certificate of Authority to operate an HMO in 1985.
Since then, the Geisinger Health Plan has steadily grown into one of the nation's largest rural HMOs by providing high quality, affordable health insurance benefits.
Geisinger Plans & Products
Geisinger Health Plan offers coverage for businesses of all sizes, individuals and families, and Medicare beneficiaries. Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) and high deductible plans are sold through Geisinger Quality Options, Inc. and self-funded and indemnity plans are sold through Geisinger Indemnity Insurance Company.
Geisinger offers something for everyone with health insurance products that range from HMO's for groups, PPO's for groups or individuals, high deductible plans that come with or without a Health Savings Account (HSA), and stand-alone Medicare prescription drug plans. They also offer point-of-service products and plans for small businesses.
Geisinger's network of providers consists of 3,937 primary care physicians, 33,150 specialists, 1,556 primary care facilities, and 96 hospitals.
