Presbyterian Health Insurance: Information, Health Plans & Insurance Quotes
Providing local health care to New Mexico for over a hundred years, Presbyterian Health Plan and Presbyterian Insurance Company, Inc. is community owned and committed to offering a wide range of health insurance plans.
As the state's only private, non-profit health care system, they offer a statewide health insurance plan and a growing medical group of eight hospitals and 500 physicians. Currently caring for one in three New Mexicans, Presbyterian hospitals, physicians, caregivers and insurance plans serve more than 660,000 residents throughout New Mexico.
History of Presbyterian
In 1985 Presbyterian Health Plan was originally launched as a corporate entity known as Health Plus, Inc. In the summer of 1995, Health Plus was changed to Presbyterian Health Plan.
Unlike other managed care organizations that are held responsible by shareholders, Presbyterian Health Plan is accountable to a Board of Directors that is comprised of volunteers from the surrounding communities of New Mexico.
Today, Presbyterian still lives by its initial interest and goal, which is to offer the best services in terms of health care and insurance to New Mexico residents and employers.
Presbyterian Health Plans
Presbyterian offers policies for both individuals and groups. Individual plans are perfectly suited for those who don't receive health benefits through their employer or for parents who need to purchase coverage for their children.
Presbyterian's flexible plans allow members to visit a preferred provider, and they also offer varying deductible and co-insurance levels so you are sure to find the plan that's right for you. Extra benefits can include alternative care from chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists; maternity riders; dental and vision services; and pharmacy benefits. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are also available.
Employer Groups have the flexibility to choose from Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Point-of-Service (POS), or Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) plans. Presbyterian can customize a plan for your group of two or more with various types of arrangements.
Awards & Accomplishments
Presbyterian Health Plan has been awarded by the National Committee for Quality Assurance√¬†(NCQA) "Excellent" accreditations for their Medicaid HMO and Medicare√¬†HMOs as well as a "Commendable" rating for their Commercial HMO and POS plans.
In 2010, the Presbyterian Healthcare Services was also named one of the top 25 most integrated systems by SDI Health.
