Living in Chicago
Chicago – Chi, the Windy City, Chitown, Second City, City of Big Shoulders, the most American of big cities – is the largest city in the Midwest with over 2.8 million residents and 9.7 million people within the Chicagoland area.
This world-renowned city has some of the nation's best restaurants, museums, schools, cultural attractions and bars.
Museums and Cultural Institutions
The number of museums and cultural institutions in Chicago is outstanding. In Chicago, there is the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, Adler Planetarium, and much more.
Chicago is also home to the second largest art museum in the United States, the Art Institute of Chicago.
Food
Known for its deep dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dog, Chicago has food for all ethnicities. There is never a restaurant far away in this city.
Chicago is one of the only major cities that allow restaurants to be B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Booze). This allows Chicago residents to eat affordably and enjoy their favorite beverages. Chicago also holds the world's largest food festival, the Taste of Chicago for 10 days every year.
Sports
If there's a sport, Chicago probably has a team for it. While talking about sports in Chicago can cause some disagreements, there are a variety of sports teams to follow.
Basketball and hockey fans can enjoy the celebrated Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks at the United Center. Football fans can join together at the historic Soldier Field to watch the Chicago Bears.
Baseball fans have the most variety and can go watch the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs. Every year, GoHealth employees have the pleasure of taking a summer outing to a rooftop to watch the Chicago Cubs!
Shopping
The Magnificent Mile, also known as The Mag Mile, is Chicago's largest shopping district. Placed right along Michigan Avenue this shopping destination attracts tourists with its mid-range and high-end stores. The Mag Mile includes the John Hancock Center, Water Tower, Tribune Tower and much more!
Traveling Convenience
Don't enjoy the Chicago cold? Chicago has two convenient international airports. One of the largest international airports is just north of the city; O'Hare is even accessible via public transit and has been voted as "Best Airport in North America."
Chicago Midway International Airport is another great airport that is closer to certain parts of the city and has cheaper parking than O'Hare.
