Only a few companies in American history can say they've been around more than 100 years, not to mention surviving through both World Wars and the Great Depression.

They were founded in 1905 by a man named William Lewis Moody, Jr. He was a 39-year-old entrepreneur determined to break into the Texan insurance industry which was so dominated by big east coast companies.

Already a successful businessman the cotton and banking industries, Moody started ANICO from his family's bank building in Galveston, Texas. He had only 10 employees. Then in 1913, they moved into an 11 story building and took residence on 2 floors.

Over a century later, their headquarters still stands in Galveston, Texas.
