John Alden's History
John Alden Life Insurance Company was founded in 1961. The company was named after one of the original settlers of the Massachusetts Plymouth Colony. And they were originally based in Miami, Florida.
John Alden insurance plans were available nationwide for over 37 years. In 1998, John Alden was bought by Fortis, an international financial services company based in the Netherlands.
In 2004, Fortis sold off its American branch. The new American company was called Assurant, and also includes Union Security Life Insurance Company and Time Insurance.
John Alden is rated "A- (Excellent)" by A.M. Best.
John Alden's Clients
John Alden is one of the largest sellers of small business group health insurance. These plans are available for businesses with between 2-50 employees. John Alden's plans are affordable, and include a flexible array of benefits to fit the unique needs of different businesses.
John Alden also offers HSA plans, or Health Savings Account-compatible plans. These plans are becoming increasingly popular with small businesses, since they feature lower premiums — and give employees more control over their health care.
Another popular John Alden product is short-term health insurance. Short-term plans keep you covered while you look for a job or shop around for a permanent plan. Because short-term plans only stay in effect for a limited time — and can't be renewed — they tend to be much cheaper than traditional health insurance.
