Montana Health Insurance High Risk Pool
Residents in Montana with pre-existing conditions will be eligible for health insurance from a high risk pool established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The Montana Affordable Care Plan will run similar to regular Montana health insurance policies. The plans will require enrollees to pay affordable monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs.
Enrollees in the Montana program will pay around the same amount that people without medical conditions pay for health insurance. The estimated premiums for Montana residents will range from $190 to $615 a month. The program has a $2,500 deductible which has to be met before health insurance benefits kick in. There is also an out-of-pocket limit set at $5,950 a year.
People with medical conditions will have health insurance coverage for prescription drugs, doctor and hospital visits, emergency services and more.
Individuals may apply for the Montana Affordable Care Plan if they are a United States citizen, have a pre-existing condition and have been without health insurance for six months.
