Residents in Ohio with pre-existing conditions will be able to get affordable health insurance from the high risk pool established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The Ohio High Risk Pool will run similar to regular Ohio health insurance plans. The plans will require enrollees to pay affordable premiums and out-of-pocket costs.
Enrollees in the Ohio program will pay around the same amount that people without medical conditions pay for health insurance. The estimated premiums for Ohio residents for non-smokers range from $189 to $545 per month. There are two deductible choices for either $1,500 or $2,500 for in-network medical costs. The out-of-pocket limits are $3,000 and $4,950 for in-network visits..
People in Ohio with medical conditions will have coverage for emergency services, prescription drugs, doctor and hospital visits and more.
Individuals may apply for the Ohio program if they are a United States citizen, have a pre-existing condition and have been without health insurance for six months.
