Providence Health Plan History
Providence Health Plan, which was officially established in 1984, is a part of the integrated delivery systems of Providence Health and Services. Providence Health Plan offers health insurance products to commercial groups, Medicare beneficiaries, Medicaid beneficiaries, individuals, and families.
Keeping up with demand and constant changes in the health insurance industry, Providence Health Plan has moved away from the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) model that it was founded on, and is currently poised more towards using the Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) model. By making this change, members are offered more freedom in their health insurance choices and much more flexibility.
